It is interesting to look into the writing habits of one of the posters who plays defense for LVA around here. I am willing to bet that the posts 09/30/2024 23:33 ("Rooting for LVA"), 10/02/2024 20:17 ("LVA is on the right track"), 10/02/2024 21:31 (the "typical parent") are all written by the same person.
Agreed. While it's not uncommon around here to see posts that were probably written by a club director or at least an involved parent, the Legacy posts seem oddly coordinated with the intent of creating the illusion that multiple people are advocating on their behalf.
You people are crazy. I’m the typical parent poster and posted one follow up saying all of the clubs my daughter is trying out for are around that amount. I’m a mom fairly new to all of this and you think I’m secretly the director?
You are the type of parent Legacy is looking for: new to all of this and ready to pay. Don't worry about everyone warning that a new club is unlikely to prepare a team for qualifiers, you likely know better. We are probably all wrong anyway.
If you read my original “typical parent” post, I said my daughter can’t even tryout. Their tryouts conflict with others she’s already registered for. Why the intense hate for this particular club that hasn’t even started yet? This has gotten it more interest than anything. All I said was this area needs more clubs because there are more girls that want to play than teams and the moment and they are all expensive. As far as I’m concerned, any new club that forms is a good thing.
There is no hate for any new club, the more options the better. However, many parents on this thread (who are not new to all this) are surprised that Legacy wants to drag their new teams to qualifiers. This is ambitious, but not in a good way. Only a few teams in the area (those with top players in each position) manage to get bids. Since you are new to all this, you probably didn't go to tournaments to see the competition. Newbie teams get crushed all the time, even when we are not talking about qualifiers. It is extremely demoralizing for the players. If you want that experience for your DD, go ahead and attend the Legacy make up tryouts - someone posted them on a previous page, immediately after you mentioned that you have a conflict with their regular tryouts. If you don't understand our concerns it is because - as you said - you are new to all of this.
