+1 He inherited a team that included folks like Edwards who had previously been removed from her position for corruption and cronyism. The optics of a full-scale house cleaning are bad, so he needs to give each of them a chance to succeed, and then document when they do not.

Edwards wasn’t the only one who came out foolish. I was stunned at how awkward and foolish Essie McGuire, Taylor’s chief of staff, was. I thought the whole point of grabbing her from the council was so that MCPS wouldn’t so easily be made the fool again future Council hearings. She could respond confidently or persuasively to any of the questions that she should have anticipated given her familiarity with the Council. She just repeating lawyerly phrases about acknowledging the failing and hoping to move forward.[/quote]

👆.  MCPS looked a mess and liked they hadn’t thought through what next after having received the reports from the IG.  Admitting mistakes is welcomed.  Learning and progressing from them is better.

For the PP who thinks this looks like transition, what I will say is it doesn’t look positive.   His leadership team has once again showed up to BOE meetings and now County Council meeting seemingly unprepared with answers to questions folks should have seen coming a mile away.  That says to me that your Leadership team hasn’t briefed you about what is going to be delivered and if they did you didn’t ask the key questions so they would know to be prepared to address.[/quote]

Stephanie Williams was already the acting general counsel from Nov 2020 to May 2021, before her official appointment. And she was associate general counsel for three years before that.[/quote]

So there are three MCPS employees involved in the original deal that are still current MCPS employees:

- Essie McGuire
- Stephanie Williams
- Eugenia Dawson
