[quote=Anonymous]Email received today September 5, 2024 Dear Elementary School Parents/Caregivers, We appreciate your patience as we worked collaboratively within our community to finalize the details of FCPS’ elementary early release Mondays, which start this month. Please see important updates below: Early Release Monday Dates The complete list of dates, which are based on your child’s school pyramid, is available on FCPS’ Limited Early Release Mondays webpage. If your school had November 25 (Thanksgiving week) as an early release day, please note that it has been changed to December 9. Confirm Your Student’s Plans for September 16 and 23 All families should have received a Google form asking whether they intend for their student to go home or stay after school during the first two early release Mondays. If you have not yet filled out the form, please complete it immediately. We are requesting that all families complete the form to help schools plan. Schools will be in touch with all families to confirm which students are going home during the early release and which students will be staying at school. After-School Activities Students who stay at school between early release and regular dismissal will not be with their regular teacher and will not receive instruction during this time. Instead, they will be supervised by other school staff, substitute teachers, or central office staff. Students will participate in after-school activities which might include: Quiet time/ independent reading/listening Completion of missed schoolwork/homework Laptop time (ST Math, Myon, Lexia, Varsity Tutors, etc.) Library rotation Physical activity Crafts Board games View a sample of how students might rotate through these activities. Support for Students with Disabilities A separate email for students with IEPs or 504s will be distributed from FCPS in the next few days to address support for students with disabilities. School-Age Child Care (SACC) Students SACC will operate during their regularly scheduled hours on early release Mondays. Students who typically attend SACC can be supervised by FCPS staff until SACC opens for their regular afternoon hours. Families should indicate that their student needs supervision on the Google form. If your student is enrolled in SACC at a different school than where they attend, please plan to have them stay at their attending school until regular dismissal time. If SACC becomes available to provide supervision during the early release, we will update families immediately. Modified Monday Specials Schools have been asked to modify the early release morning schedule to include specials that would have normally occurred on early release Mondays, so students do not miss out on these classes. November 25 (Thanksgiving Week) Early Release Date Change Schools in the Herndon, Langley, Madison, Marshall, McLean, South Lakes, Centreville, Chantilly, Fairfax, Oakton, Robinson, and Westfield pyramids will have an early release Monday on December 9 rather than November 25. Please visit the FCPS website for additional information about early release Mondays. Thank you for supporting all that our teachers do to provide an excellent education for FCPS students.
