Code-switching is never offensive. It's polite. As a mixed-race person, I can attest to that. When I return to my Asian country, I do not bring the mannerisms of my European country. That would be seen as uncouth. And the reverse would surprise my European relatives!

For the last time. Multi-ethnic people code switch. For instance, one of my nephews is Chinese/South Asian (ethnically). When he is with his Chinese grandparents who live in the US, he speaks Mandarin. When he is with the South Asian family, he speaks Hindi. When he's with his friends, he speaks English.

Normal people try to find common ground with the people that surround them. Weirdos OTOH, might decide that code switching is damn offensive.[/quote]
