Good grief. A huge thread about a rec tournament? Here is an idea. Don’t go if you don’t want to.
Here's an idea -- let people talk about things in a non-hateful way. I did the FPYC tournament a few times with Vienna, but they soured on other clubs' all-star tournaments and tried to do their own for a while. Last I saw, they had a few teams going simply because the coaches drove the process themselves, but that may have changed over the past couple of years. It's typical youth soccer -- some coaches and parents are reasonable, some aren't. Some clubs take it more seriously than others, selecting All-Stars early in a season and having them practice together or possibly picking their best NCSL-R (fka SFL) team and supplementing it with the very best few players from other teams. Some just make sure they have representation from every team in their age group and toss everyone together for a couple of practices. Organizationally, it's fine. I hadn't heard of the Valor tournament. I wonder if it's basically a way to identify travel-worthy talent in Valor's feeder rec leagues.
