And the NYT brought receipts. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/01/20/us/dei-woke-claremont-institute.html Why do conservatives hate America and everything it stands for? Why are they so racist?
The next time you get on an airplane do you want the pilot, crew and air traffic controller to have been hired on merit/qualifications or DEI? I’m guessing you’d go with merit/qualifications. Does that make you racist?
You commit a logical fallacy here. It is not an either/or choice.
https://wpde.com/news/nation-world/faa-slammed-over-targeted-disabilities-hiring-goal-people-will-die-due-to-dei-federal-aviation-administration-diversity-equity-inclusion-policy-guidance-elon-musk-sarah-palin FAA is seeking such people. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/united-airlines-training-program-aviate-academy-pilot-shortage-graduating-class-women-minorities/ United is picking 80% minotirty females.
They are not hiring based on race. They have a training program with an inaugural class that is 80% "minorities" OR women. Since 50%+ of the population are women and almost half are non-White, it doesn't seem hard to get to 80% women or "minorities".
When I board a plane, I always ask to meet the pilot and co-pilot. If neither is a woman or minority, I cancel my flight because I only want to fly on a plane piloted by a woman or minority person.... SAID NO ONE EVER!
Okay?
Obviously PP was making the point that nobody cares the gender/race of the pilot. The below from the article...nobody cares. The pilots could stay locked behind their cockpit door end-to-end, and nobody would care if the plane safely got to where it's supposed to go. "United Airlines launched its Aviate Academy in 2022 to address the shortage and diversify a workforce that is overwhelmingly White and male. The academy's first graduating class was 80% women or minorities. "It looks nothing like the industry. But guess what it does look like. It does look like the demographic we serve. It looks like our passengers," said Ricki Foster, an aspiring airline pilot who completed basic pilot training outside of Phoenix, Arizona. "
So an aspiring airline pilot thinks diversity is good? So what? I also don't care what gender or race the pilot on my flight is but I do care that there is a pilot, and I think efforts to combat pilot shortages are good. Contrary to what the PP thinks, there actually isn't a long line of people wanting to be airline pilots. Also, women can be pilots, women can do lots of jobs that aren't desk jobs. In case you didn't know.
