If you have 3+ kids attending college at the same time, you might qualify for a tiny amount.
NOT ANYMORE!!! New FAFSA rules don't include having multiple kids in college at the same time. That is what we planned for with twins and now we are totally screwed!
They shouldn't reward families who have more kids with more help. You aren't screwed. You should have saved. You knew you'd have multiple kids in college at the same time.
so colleges are now a reward for families who plan better?
Well, I think the point of saving is to be able to afford something. College is something that families that prioritize and plan can afford. Just like families that prioritize and plan for other things get those other things. I am really not understanding the outrage or at least it is poorly focused in these rants. Luxury college (i.e., elite private and many flagship state universities) is expensive. Is it too expensive, probably, but there are people willing to pay. Is it a necessity? No it is not. Not even for high stats kids from families that, for whatever reason, were not able to save the cost of college. There kids will be fine going to college where their parents can afford to send them. Really.
