Daytime stabbing on the Metro. Is anywhere safe? https://wjla.com/news/local/stabbings-dc-crime-woman-stabbed-on-metro-green-line-train-at-navy-yard-atation-delays-single-tracking-half-street-entrance-new-jersey-avenue
Suspect has a rap sheet almost as long as my Johnson, including multiple DV arrests and a stabbing arrest dismissed.
Can DC residents come together to file a lawsuit against DC OAG for their egregious resistance to hold criminals accountable?
I don’t think you can do a qui tam civil rights action . It would take the DOJ to sue for civil rights violations of crime victims when they don’t prosecute criminals. It’s no different when the DOJ pursued civil rights cases when localities didn’t prosecute kkk members for racist crimes etc
And in this case, the government agency that isn’t prosecuting criminals is the U.S. Justice Department, making it pretty unlikely that the U.S. Justice Department will bring a suit over it.
But going back to the original question, DC citizens CAN sue the US justice dept for negligence? So can a group get together and do this? "The Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) holds federal government agencies and employees accountable. Under the FTCA, citizens can sue the federal government in certain wrongful act and negligence claims."
