HOS shouldn't be flippant, nor should CCO. But it remains to be seen whether these deferrals will turn into acceptances in RD. It "could" be the case that schools have made a conscious shift from accepting affluent students in early rounds to remove the inequities that creates (especially in ED) for families that cannot afford to commit to a school without the need to compare financial packages. They may also want to remove those students from EA to hold them accountable to their senior year grades - or to do so against the entire RD group.

My child is also in the deferral group - but we all need to wait it out to see where the chips land.  These things are happening at all local DMV private schools (for those of you pointing to GDS success - they like other schools have many hooks associated with their admits) [/quote]
