I would say “if you are ever looking for new members, let me know”. It’s easy to ask to be included in a way that does not put the other person on the spot. This can be applied to many social situations and it’s just good manners. You express interest, but leave it open ended. That way if you are not invited to join, but still want to remain friendly, it’s not awkward. [/quote]
