As many predicted, the entrance of Riemer and Hucker in the race has cannibalized the non-Elrich vote. https://wtop.com/maryland/2022/01/polls-show-elrich-with-early-lead-in-race-for-montgomery-co-executive/
Early polls show that Elrich has expanded his base of support. According to a source who has seen multiple polls — including one conducted for a consortium of unions and another for a business group — Elrich enters the campaign with “strong favorables” and support in the “high 30s.”

According to two sources, Riemer and Blair have the support of approximately 12% of Montgomery Democrats surveyed, while the newest candidate, Hucker, is in the high single digits.

This story literally propelled me to change my voter registration to Democrat so that my vote makes a difference in Montgomery County.
Thank you. ~moderate Democrat.
Whenever anyone claims to be a moderate democrat, I always read it as closet Republican.
Why? You aren’t able to see a spectrum of beliefs? I’ve grown tired of the “you’re either 100% with me or you are a horrible human” language that permeates DCUM.
I'm the moderate Democrat and it may come as a surprise to the progressives in the county, who live in their own little echo chamber, but most Democrats are actually moderate. We believe in civil rights and reducing inequities. We want everyone to have equal access to good housing, good health, good education, good jobs. But we aren't willing to implode our country to get there. Evidence-based improvements are the way to go.
+1. Also the spectrum is relative depending on where you live. I’m “moderate” for MoCo and “crazy left wing” for my hometown. :P
