Yeah we have to get Russia off the security council before any peace keepers can get in … but I agree in general.

Putin has leaned on India and China for International support in his mission to dethrone US and Western dominance in world economy. Russia acting violently against Asian peacekeepers would undermine Putin’s vision of Eurasian ethnic nationalism/ empire glory. (Putin’s philosopher Dugan contended that only by restoring greater Russia to Eurasian Union could Russia become a credible global player). Putin and Asian allies had hoped to counter US and Western dominance with their democratic nations being built on civic responsibility, rule of law, Rights of individuals and minorities and freedom of speech but I doubt that China realized how brutal and barbaric towards innocent civilians he was prepared to be.

Putin’s so called “civilization border” of Russia is such a cruel joke given how inhuman and uncivilized his troops are behaving towards innocents in Ukraine. It is not just a war against liberal democracy that is savagely being carried out in Ukraine but Putin is going back to a dangerous, irredentist and ethnic nationalist view of sovereignty and self determination.

The UN may not be perfect, but we need some kind of international body where basic human rights can be agreed upon and defended.

That’s how USSR behaves in Afghanistan. Everyone talks about the US war in Afghanistan, but somehow forgetting the Soviet troops invading Afghanistan on Christmas Eve 1979 for 10 years cause complete and total destruction. Imagine what they are doing now in era of satellite images, mobile phones and internet, and what happened then, in Afghanistan and then 20 years later in Chechnya.[/quote]
