Update for Lee. I won’t paste the essay-long email. Grades 1-6. March 16, masks optional outdoors Grades 1-6. March 28, masks optional everywhere PK3-K. March 21, masks optional outdoors PK3-K. April 25, masks optional everywhere “As we move through these changes it is possible that students and staff will be required to wear a mask at some point this school year and beyond. We will make the decision on reinstating masking based on COVID transmission in our schools (defined by DC Health Guidelines), and the level of COVID transmission in DC. (The two most important factors according to family and staff responses to our survey). Per DC policy, the School Nurse will also ask any child exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 while at school to wear a mask.”
This is straight-up f’ing nuts.
It's Lee. What did you expect? Funny story about Lee to illustrate the point. I was at the National Arboretum last fall after the Delta wave had largely subsided. We were outside in the big grassy area near the center of the property and noticed a group of about 20 parents and young kids playing together. All were wearing masks (kids and adults), but virtually none of the other people at the arboretum were (because it's OUTSIDE, duh). My two young kids walk over to say hi to some of the kids in the group since they're all about the same age. The look on the parents' faces as two unmasked (the horrors!) kids approached them outside was priceless. It turns out the group was all from Lee, and they were taking a trip to the arboretum together on a Saturday. It was hilarious and sad at the same time.
Yeahhh… we skipped that nonsense. No way were we wasting our time.
