I never said single occupancy. I have a kid that I can drop at school and a spouse that also works downtown that I plan to commute with. Combined we were spending about $30 a day on Metro. Nope. Never again. If DC doesn’t want to accommodate efficient transportation and would prefer that spare road capacity is unused while cars are backed up honking and emitting pollution. Well, I guess that’s their choice too.
Even with two people in a vehicle, it's still not efficient transportation. Also, a car commute with cars backed up honking doesn't sound very pleasant to me, but that's your decision. Did either you or your spouse ask your employer to participate in the employer-paid transit benefit programs? Employers with 20 or more employees in DC must participate, but maybe both of you work for employers with fewer than 20 employees in DC.
