Can someone explain what happens if your kid tries out for a club that doesn't currently have a team for that grad year? For example, NL 2026. Does the club inform the families after tryouts about (1) whether they will actually be able to field a team, (2) whether it will be an A or B team, and (3) whether it will be playing in NGLL?
This is why I'd recommend trying out for a couple different clubs if possible. I know a big issue with this is that tryouts seem to overlap more and more often. It is a tricky situation. I know for example M&D 2027s last year put out a 2027 Red roster after tryouts with only 14 or 15 girls on it. Ultimately they ended up not fielding the team. I'm not sure how difficult it was for those families to find another team though. In many cases, the club will definitely have you believe there will be plenty of girls to field a team... I don't think any of the clubs would promise an A level team the first year fielding it though (unless it's 29s, 30s, etc). I'd also assume most area clubs would want to place their teams in NGLL if at all possible. Personally, I'd be skeptical trying out for a team that will be in it's first year even if I knew for sure it would happen unless you're talking about the younger girls (29s and younger).
