Also, the idea that TJ as a school is "doing fine" or has been for some time is nonsense. Far, far too many kids there are dealing with deep mental health issues that are brutally stigmatized within their own [b]communities[/b] and in their homes - and it's because they're comparing themselves to each other constantly. The "academic flex" culture is out of control and results in most students believing that everyone around them is perfect and that they themselves are deeply inadequate. It's the same thing you see with instagram users nowadays, but it hits right at the core of these kids identities, which are wrapped up in being the smartest kids in the room, desperate for that acceptance letter to Yale.

TJ has a #1 ranking that is built on the back of outmoded and obsolete standardized tests that elite universities are running away from. Their admissions process has always existed in service of that ranking and FINALLY they are fixing their priorities. It's morning in Alexandria.[/quote]

You may not acknowledge it but your are showing your racism. Do you have any official statistics to back up your claim that "too many TJ kids dealing with mental health issues"? Why did you make that claim without any evidence? Ask yourself whether you would make the same assumption for a different high school.[/quote]
