This is a very freak storm happening in an area that is simply not set up for it. Add in the fact that it's still ongoing and you have a very bad situation. Normally temperatures would rise back to normal levels the next day or so. And the low temps are unprecedented. Some dude was ice skating on the duck pond in my hometown.
