Just got an email from our K Janney teacher saying she will be “out” Monday so I’m guessing that means the strike is on?
How do you know on Friday that you will be sick Monday? Seems like she should wait until Monday to be ‘sick.’
I think people were phrasing it as a mental health day, so it’s not like cough cough sick day but rather using a sick day for mental health, which can be planned ahead of time. Our teacher said she will be out but arranged for a substitute to cover
No, you cannot plan to be sick in advance, mentally or otherwise.
Yes, you can plan a mental health day in advance.
The that’s called “vacation” not sick leave.
Keep that corporate America capitalist BS for yourself.
I have always seen "mental health days" as a male privilege. Women in the office can't afford those. Glad to see a women-dominated profession get to try them, en masse.
Weird. I’ve been taking mental health days since I was 22. You need to grow a back bone.
A back bone? Lol. At 22 I didn't need mental health days, I was getting an education. Plenty of mental health days in there. In my 30ies I could not afford a mental health day, because I never knew when I was going to have to take sick leave or vacation time because a kid was sick or daycare was shut for the day or I had to go sit in a toddler chair for the mother's day thing, or drive back home to pick up the lunchbox. You know, when the 60-hour invisible work week collided with the day job's 40 hours.
Do you want a medal or something? Good god. There is nothing wrong with using sick leave for a mental health day!
