I think people were phrasing it as a mental health day, so it’s not like cough cough sick day but rather using a sick day for mental health, which can be planned ahead of time. Our teacher said she will be out but arranged for a substitute to cover[/quote]

A back bone? Lol. At 22 I didn't need mental health days, I was getting an education. Plenty of mental health days in there.
In my 30ies I could not afford a mental health day, because I never knew when I was going to have to take sick leave or vacation time because a kid was sick or daycare was shut for the day or I had to go sit in a toddler chair for the mother's day thing, or drive back home to pick up the lunchbox. You know, when the 60-hour invisible work week collided with the day job's 40 hours.[/quote]
