I agree with other PP I would much rather see Arlington in ECNL than BRYC
Arlington should be....but they went to DA. Thank USSF. No more ECNL clubs will be added.
Arlington tried, but Mclean blackballed them. Both before Girls DA and after it imploded. But Arlington boys are in ECNL this year, so if BRYC doesn’t win any games, maybe ECNL will get wise, drop BRYC, and add Arlington no matter what Mclean says.
Why would McLean only blackball the girls side? I think this blackball thing is a rumor
The blackball is bs, ECNL leadership made the decision. Clubs dont have the ability to blackball.
pre-GDA, all the Arlington players who wanted to get recruited went to Mclean or FCV, providing a pretty big player pool. Arlington said FINE and went with the GDA to try to build their recruiting pipeline on the girls side (they had DA on boys side). Once DA imploded, What incentive did ECNL leadership have to keep Arlington Girls out while letting Arlington Boys in, especially when they let in clubs that had been losing to Arlington in GDA (Penn Fusion, for example)? Oh, I know — their old school member club, Mclean, was underperforming in ECNL and wanted that player pool back. Whether you call it blackball or not, it was ECNL choosing to stick with underperforming clubs like BRYC instead of letting in clubs on a significant growth trajectory over the prior 2 years, maybe with some input from one of their oldest member clubs with the best history of college recruiting on the girls side, Mclean. And they’re not wrong because in another 2 years the girls who want to get recruited will likely move to ECNL clubs if there isn’t a club reshuffle with ECNL forcing a form of pro/rel by dropping the bottom clubs and adding clubs that perform well in GA. The sad part is that it just continues to screw over the players who are 03s to 06s. By the time the 07s are at recruiting age it will all have sorted, one way or another. But I would take Arlington club leadership over BRYC club leadership any day of the week, and if ECNL is smart they will too.
Arlington is not getting ECNL.
