Woman NP here. I have no intention of paying more in taxes to give women to stay home for months. This all goes into whether or not to have children. Can you afford them? is the number one question to ask yourself. If you can't afford children without taxpayer help, you do not get to have them.
+1 million.
Almost nobody except the UMC and wealthy can actually “afford” children anymore.
Really, we have earned around $100K-$150 so technically UMC/wealthy depending on where you live and we have a almost paid off house (we could pay it off), cars that we own including a new one paid cash, college fund, multiple kid activities and more with no family help. I saved my leave for years for paid maternity leave and then quit as I couldn't find child care that we could afford. Its how you choose to spend your money. We don't take many vacations or live lavishly but we are comfortable and have no money worries.
