I'm pretty sure I am judged when I pick up my three year old from day care, he doesn't want to leave, so I pick him up and he proceeds to whack me in the face screaming and crying and kicking all the way down the hallway with parents, teachers, and Daycare directors watching. Or when we are in a restaurant and he isn't on the ideal behavior and I don't get him out of there quick enough because I'm trying to finish my food and get the check paid. I judge parents who let their toddlers run in the street without holding their hands- but actually, I try not to judge it- I just struggle to understand it- can't comprehend it.
Uh.... I judge parents like you. You raised a kid who thinks it's ok to hit his mom, and not just once but all the time? Tf is wrong with you? Also you need to take him out of the restaurant, calm him, and then bring him back in, or have DH do it while you stay in. But your use of 'not the ideal behavior' sounds like you don't even feel like he's that in the wrong, when he's actually ruining an entire restaurant's worth of patrons' meals because he is so loud and bratty.
