Here is what you fail to understand (or you do understand it, but refuse to admit it.... so you are either ignorant or obstinate, your choice). Most taxpayers received more money back on their monthly pay. So, naturally, their refund could be less. This is true for my family. We had approximately $400 more each month AND this year we get a refund.... we haven't had a refund for years.
And your tax cut still hasn't helped the gdp. It certainly isn't helping the national debt.
We don't have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. I supposed you were not at all alarmed when Obama doubled our national debt, were you?
Well, considering I used to be a R, yes, I was concerned. But I also understood that we were coming out of a very expensive war, started by a R (Bush), who actually was the reason I left the R party. Rs these days seem to have turned their backs on their concerns over the national debt.
Just like the cicadas come out every 17 years, the Republicans seem to lose their concern about debt every 8 years. So from 1992 to 2000 deficits were a great threat to the country, then from 2000 to 2008 they didn't matter, then from 2008 to 2016 they were a threat again, and now they don't matter again. I'm trying to figure out what happens every eight years that changes their thinking. Like the cicadas, it may be unknowable.
