One bit of simple benchmarking would be to look at the the number of senior advisees per counselor and the average years of experience per counselor.  For example, SFS has nearly 45 seniors per counselor.  Is that about average for STA/Cathedral/GDS/Maret, etc?[/quote]

Um, if school A has 25 seniors per counselor and school B has 50, then one might reasonably conclude (assuming that the counselors are all full time) that in school A each senior gets more time and attention from the counselor.  Now you can get back to the eggnog.[/quote]

You would also need to know how the counseling office is run.  You can't just take the size of the class and divide by the number of counselors.  Some schools have a full time counseling staff and some have counselors who also teach.  Advantage and disadvantages to both approaches.[/quote]
