I think the varsity football team bears more responsibility than, say, girls field hockey.  I understand the need to make a strong statement, and I do think the Varsity team should not have played their last game, and perhaps the coaches should be suspended/released pending the school system's investigation of how this could happen and whether it was more than a one-time incident/crime.  The individual perpetrators are being held accountable for the crime.  The school system needs to investigate and determine what failures of supervision and culture there were that allowed the crime to occur and issue consequences accordingly.  [/quote]
