My Father in law describes his home as “the vacation house” and gets really upset if we take a vacation anywhere else. He constantly says that kids these days are “too safe” and gives my children gifts like a cordless drill or a real saw. They are 3 and 5.
This is not slightly irritating, this is obnoxious. Anyone who gave my 3 year old a real saw to play with would never be unsupervised with my kids EVER.
My MIL refers to the unfair conditioned third floor attic with bathroom (no kitchen) as 'a lovely apartment ' and can't ynderstand why trudging up and down 3 flights of stairs with toddlers isn't fun and why we don't want to stay there for a week. Also refers to her house as home and frequently asks dh when he is coming home again. Because the place he has lived with me for ten yrs isn't home. Refers to her kids as my Elizabeth and my charlie. No lady i am pretty sure that the lady who sleeps with him and bore his children should get to call him my charlie. Just saying.
