I gave cash to all the teachers that teach my child - including the music, PE and arts teacher. You cannot please everyone but this is the most convenient , appreciated and useful gift for everyone involved.
Agree. Plus gift cards can expire or be to a place the teacher doesn't like. Not everyone shops at target (hate it!), Amazon, or Starbucks.
I used to work in Marketing. Gift card is a racket. 30% of all gift cards never get used. They get lost, expired, forgotten, underused (still have some small amount of money left) or the customer has to spend more money to use it (the gift card dos not cover the entire amount of the purchase). ALSO, many companies charge you for using their gift cards. It is a money maker for the company and the customers or the gist recipients are the losers in this transaction. I never give gift cards. I always give cash or check. For teachers I will not give checks because I do not want them to do one more chore of depositing the check. I don't care if someone on DCUM thinks I am tacky. No teacher thinks I am tacky when I gift them cash.
