[twitter]https://x.com/postlocal/status/1760025286832263533?s=46&t=ZzdaPducxAG_NXuzQ9879g[/twitter]
That's the death knell there. It's done.
It's definitely not done. I hate the plan, live in D.C., don't want to see them leave, etc., but it's absurd to just count out a move backed by the team owner and the governor of the state. If I had to bet on it, I'd bet this still goes ahead in some form.
It's done. It's over. The fat lady sang. The unions are out. City council members are switching sides. The legislature is demanding things Youngkin will never ever ever give. It's done. I hope Jeff pins your post so it can hang in the air like a bad fart.
So let me get this straight: the mayor, city council and the city didn't care at all that the local citizens were overwhelmingly against this from the start, yet if unions start saying they're against this they now cave? WTAF? And Virginia is a right to work state, do the unions matter as much as people think here?
No, unions don't matter much in VA. Think that's just a talking point now that people are starting to realize that it's a bad move that's going to cost Virginia taxpayers a lot of money and that the locals don't want this anyhow.
PP here. So in essence I was right. As you wrote, yes NOW people are starting to realize that it’s a bad move. Which people? The mayor, city council and the city (I guess manager)? Because the locals have known it was a bad move from the start, not suddenly now. So no one has been listening to us. But if the unions make some noise then they re-evaluate? “People” now start to realize? What were we doing before? Blowing into the wind? FML.
