People victimizing others while impersonating law enforcement has happened for as long as we've had law enforcement.  But the number of instances of people impersonating ICE in order to rob or otherwise victimize illegals has increased dramatically since Trump got into office. PP, actually the article says that there's been an increase of 690 percent in the number of assaults [u]against [/u]ICE and federal immigration enforcement--not an increase in the number of people impersonating ICE. The point of the article is that the number of assaults on ICE officers is not as high as the Trump administration claims. In the past six months there have only been 79 assaults, hardly a huge number given all the encounters that take place. Further, it's not clear what ICE defines as an "assault." For example they claim that the NYC comptroller Brad Lander "assaulted law enforcement" when he did not do so at all.

Good lord. ANY assault in an ICE agent is one too many. That is about 13 assaults every month. That is horrible. [/quote]

A lot of those assaults are people who think they are being abducted by randos because the ICE agents are not identified as federal agents. Maybe of they wore uniforms and badges and had warrants, things would be different.[/quote]NO that's not what it is.  You just want to object to ICE deportation.[/quote]
