The Subway hike where this hiker died is in no way similar to where this family was found.  Nothing like it at all really.  [/quote]

The California hike sounds worse - exposed switchbacks, 109 degrees.  Either way, a 9-mile hike in 90+ degrees is a bad idea for most people.  [/quote]
