I don’t think it undermines anything. The bottom line is that most people expect law-enforcement agents not to be masked and to be dressed in a way that identifies them as LEOs. There have always been men who have posed as police officers to robber or rape  unsuspecting victims. The difference now is that they can get away with it even more easily if they portray ICE agents because ICE agents typically wear plain clothes and cover their faces. [/quote]

There is a culture of not killing law enforcement, that is in place because the police did not back down and instead responded with overwhelming force, to the point where most criminals get it.
Sometimes they wear swat gear and are fully armored.
Even the activist defund the police type generally don't attack the police, though I have seen them try to set fire to police stations with cops inside.

ICE has to respond to the threats that Democrats are putting on them.  They do this by not stopping and reacting with more force against the lawbreakers.
Once there is a culture of not going after ICE, where even Democrats want to enforce the law, then they can resort to routine law enforcement with no masks.[/quote]
