I can't believe Prep let Gilman score 8 points in the 4th quarter, especially with their strong defense. They dominated that game for three quarters (11-3) and without one of their top scorers (don't know why he wasn't playing). The 4th quarter, though was another story. They did get a few bad calls, but the coaches need to rethink their strategies. It's like they were half way to the bus ready to celebrate another win, not realizing Gilman was making a comeback. They were still subbing in backup players as the points just kept mounting. When the opposing team is scoring a point a minute, it's time to put your top players back in. On the flip side, they may really need to give some of the backup goalies a shot. That 4th quarter was an unbelievable debacle. Time for a reboot.
The game is on YouTube. Point out when the starters were pulled. https://www.youtube.com/live/zQGUItMrU0s?feature=shared
Really? Reading comprehension must not be your strong suit. PP did not say "starters were pulled". PP said "subbing in backup players". But since you asked for it, here you go. First let me start by saying Prep's top scorer in the STM's game did not play in the Gilman game (no idea why) and that was an obvious absence. Besides that, starters were being subbed in the first quarter. Not all, but some. Remember Prep dominated Gilman for the first three quarters. The score was 11-3. So yes, lots of starters were being subbed in and out. More importantly though, throughout the fourth quarter there were multiple non-starters playing. One second string defender was in the 4th quarter for 4 of Gilman's goals. Another second string defender was in during parts of the 4th quarter and overtime along with multiple backup middies. Not saying the 8 goals in the 4th quarter were any one person's fault, it seemed more like a full team (including coaches) breakdown. That being said, it is the first week of games and the bench is pretty young. The coaches and the team are obviously still trying to figure things out. Remember Prep lost like 18 seniors last year. Many of these players are new to the field and this team. Last year Prep lost 2 preseason games before they found their mojo and went on a 13 game winning streak. This team obviously still has time, but they do need to figure things out.
