People still trying to have logical arguments with the August Guy is funny 😂
Yeah, I gave up a while ago although I almost am "August Guy" - my daughter is a late Sept U13 birthday who played ECNL this season as 3/18 girls who are likely to move "down" (this is bs, but I'll play). I have no clue why in the world a person would be so hung up on such an edge case and comment on every single thread, but here we are. In her case, it will be the first time playing on grade, but one of the 3 will be below grade and that's fine. Our team is currently in the top 25 nationally and first in their conference. I expect most highly competitive teams to follow ECNL's recommendation of playing with the new age range.
I'm really interested in what your club does. Please let us know. That would be valuable. Our club is approaching this similarly. Likely playing on age, regardless of grade, unless the person is 1%-er. Meantime, some parents are grumbling about grade, because that's how this was all sold. But the caveat on that is it's not just August, it's September, October and summer months, where the grades don't align for a handful of players on most teams, because 99% of people pick when to go to school on nothing to do with sports. That's where I think Aug guy's forcing up is all wrong, although there no doubt will be situations where players play up and grade is a factor is that.
