MCPS has had its best days. If they understood, the W school districts would succeed from the rest to avoid over taxation to support the Eastern part of the county.
People keep saying this, but I'm not sure what comparison school districts we are falling below.
You're falling behind much of the world according to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). At least the illegals coming to Montgomery County from Central and South America are getting better schools than the ones they left behind.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD LET GO OF THE FREAKING IILEGAL ISSUE LET IT THE F***** GO YOUR ISSUE WITH EVERYTHING IS ILLEGALS, ILLEGALS, ILLEGALS YOUR STUPIDITY SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU PROBABLY LIVE IN YOUR MOTHER'S BASEMENT IN IDAHO AND DON'T EVEN LIVE IN MOCO. MOST OF US ARE NOT BLAMING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS FOR EVERYTIME SOMEONE'S FART STINKS!!!! LET IT GO OR MOVE SOMEWHERE THE ILLEGALS WON'T BOTHER YOU!
I am not the PP and since the whole point of the article is to say that the Hispanic populations has quadrupled in less than 10-15 years, there is a major cause of concern, unless you honeslty think all of these Hispanics applied for citizenship and came here legally. Funding for ESOL and FARMS has skyrocketed and has taken a lot of money away from actual education for legal citizens. Meanwhile testing scores have gone down. I don't want illegals here at all. None. They are federal law breakers cheating a system and bringing poverty to the country that the middle class is struggling to pay for. I want the ones coming to America legally here. There is a big difference. No one should get a free pass into another country. We are the only ones that seem to allow it. It is all a political ploy.
Please--you be the one to tell the student of mine who has most recently arrived from Central America that he needs to be shipped back. His entire family is still there. He is living here with a distant relative he has never met. And he's 10. He also has a stronger academic background than many of my students who only speak English and were born in the US. He will quickly surpass those students once he acquires English, and considering how strong his skills are--that won't be long. But he's the problem with MCPS, according to you. He's been through hell that you can't even imagine. No child should have to witness what he has. Why are you and your children superior to this child who has more courage. drive and ambition than most children who were lucky enough to have been born here? But let me guess--you're fine with it as long as children like him don't show up at your child's school??? My stomach hurts just thinking that people like you exist.
This kid is an outlier and isn't even remotely representative of the kids coming. To be brutally honest, if you keep bringing "there" to "here", eventually we will be the same as "there".
