+1 Conn Ave has great potential, but it looks gross and ramshackle compared to CC (which has some great places including 2Amys, Cactus Cantina, Jetties). It certainly could be made much more appealing with improvements a la Capital Hill, but it is wholly unappealing at present. To compare it positively to CC is a joke.
Two Amy's, Cactus Cantina and Jetties are independent businesses that are not tenants of Cathedral Generic Commons and predated the construction of CC. They are all located along Macomb St west of Wisconsin, a strip that could certainly use some DC dollars to plant trees, repair the sidewalks and replace the highway style cobra lights with more decorative fixtures.
Two Amys and Jetties, more so, are relatively new. CC, and I mean the area, was and is more receptive to new infrastructure and new businesses. See the prior posts of the Conn Ave residents screaming NIMBY in defending that bus lot. Those in CC proper such as Barcelona and Raku have added new dining options that those on Conn Ave would have to drive to reach.
