Kanye actually tried to jump up onto the stage when Beck was accepting for Best Album and do his "Imma let you finish" BS. Unbelievable.
You're missing what happened. He jumped up as if to recreate the Taylor Swift moment, then smiled and got back down. It's clear from Beck's and the audience's reaction that it was a joke. He's grown up a lot since the Swift fiasco. Check it out here -- at first Jay Z and Beyonce looked on horrified -- oh no, not again! -- and then everyone starts laughing because it was a self deprecating joke. http://www.billboard.com/articles/events/grammys-2015/6465654/grammys-2015-kanye-beck-album-of-the-year
Oh no. His after event remarks make it clear. He was totally serious. He explained why B should've won, said Beck and Grammys disrespected the real talent. Etc etc etc.
K was not kidding. He's making a joke of himself. Usher, on the other hand, seems to get better with age.
The thing about Kanye to me is that he's pretty abrasive, but he's not wrong. Beyonce deserved to win best video for Single Ladies that other year over that forgettable Taylor Swift video. (And I love Taylor Swift!). Beyonce's amazing album, which broke the Internet, remember?, deserved to win over Beck. I bet it sold more. Kanye isn't talking about race, but I wonder what role it's playing wih voters here. If you were a black artist selling albums and kept getting passed over for white artists that don't seem as talented, you might start to wonder wtf is going on. On the other hand if you say what's on your mind and talk about racism in the industry, that could hurt your fan base, so I can totally understand why most people don't speak up. But I respect Kanye for saying something. I am so tired of white privilege at award ceremonies. And of popular black artists getting ghettoized to the rap category. Note that West has put his money where his mouth is and given other artists his awards when he thought they were more deserving. I'm white, if that matters.
There is a time and place for everything. Up on the stage while someone else is getting an award is not the time or the place, I'm black and he is embarrasssing
