This is in Malibu, which is 27 miles long.  If driving north (or west, basically out of LA toward Ventura) before that point, there is a long down hill that does encourage one to speed some, but it flattens out a bit before that traffic light.  The pics looked like they were going north but I didn't look too hard. (if they were going north, the mountain brush would be on their right side, if south, homes/ocean would be on their right side)

If going towards LA (south/east), right before that intersection there is a down hill (basically that traffic light intersection is at a low point) and it would be easier, if distracted, to not stop for that light.

This is the same road where Mel Gibson got pulled over. It's basically a dangerous road (not only because it seems there are always rocks falling just north of there, where the road does get windy) but because it's really the only road through that area, and the beach side is lined with homes.

Many, many celebrities live on both sides of that road, and they have to drive if they want to go anywhere to eat or shop.  The whole culture there is one of excess and I drive this road all the time and I'm always nervous about drunk drivers.  The shoulders of the road are jammed with parked cars and there is no center divider.[/quote]
