My guess is that she didn't even see it as a race issue and probably didn't think anything of it.   That is until she was being interviewed and asked about subtle racism.  Then she remembered a saleswoman offering another bag that was less expensive and jumped at that - making it a race issue instead of what it was - that the saleswoman was suggesting another bag, that she never said "you can't afford this" or whatever the lie was that Oprah said and that the shopgirl probably looked at Oprah's frumpy, unkempt and sloppy look with no make-up, dressed in ugly sweats and thought if you're dressed like that, you're not going to buy that bag. Something she would have said to anyone dressed that way regardless of their race.
