Hi Peanut! Pumpkin again. I am so sick that I took the afternoon off and am now basically in bed "treating" DCUM to my constant presence. I had a pump in style advanced, hands free http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/products/573/pump-in-style-advanced and I have to say, the motor slowed down considerably by the time DS was 10 months or so, so I didn't pump CONSTANTLY or anything. I thought my supply was dwindling but it turns out it was the pump. But many people swear by them, though, maybe I just got a dud. Another issue is that they really do kind of indicate that they're for ONE child. You can supposedly reuse them for baby 2, but most moms seem to think that the pump does wear down. I think it's obscene to spend that kind of money on a hunk of plastic that is essentially going to be disposable after one baby! Since insurance will cover it, I'm going to get a new breast pump. This time I'm interested in this model, but I don't know if it's one of the ones my insurance will cover. (It's so nice that insurance covers this now - it didn't with my first and they are EXPENSIVE!) http://www.amazon.com/Hygeia-EnJoye-Breast-Pump-Black/dp/B0028MI4M4 As a first time mom, people advised me NOT to pump too soon unless you had a definite supply issue, which was advise I agree with (you can cause an oversupply issue by doing this, which sounds great but actually is really hard on your baby and causes gas and fussiness and pain) but I got mastitis around 5 weeks and let me tell you I was so-so-so glad i had a pump to drain that breast after DS was "done" but my breasts were still not empty! :)
