North India is filthy. South India is much cleaner than North India and even cleaner than many cities in Europe.

DP. I have not been in many years, but I remember thinking Chennai was shockingly clean when I went. I had been in Calcutta and Delhi immediately prior, though, so I’m not sure if it was on a relative or absolute basis. [/quote]

It's been a few years here too and it was during rain season but I was pretty grossed out by Chennai. Definitely not clean by any measure. So many canceled meetings due to malaria and so much sewage floating through the streets. Hot and humid as hell. I'm sure I will be back in India at some point for work but it's on the list of places I would never use my own leave and funds to visit.[/quote]
