Call me crazy but maybe we shouldn't elect Ms. Defund the Police at a time when many of us just want Trump to get the National Guard and ICE out of our city.
You are not crazy. We need to vote against soft on crime candidates.
Home rule will end if Janeese is elected. She is a bad stereotype of a loony liberal who cares more about criminals than their victims.
We need a Republican mayor. Who will run?
Republican does not equal competence, efficiency or vision, as the President and Congress have shown us.
It doesn't. But at least it's incompatible with some things that ruin the QOL of the residents like crime and rampant vagrancy and all that comes with it. A republican mayor cannot take soft on crime stance and encourage proliferation of shantytowns. If just these 2 problems get addressed to some extent life would already be better and the city would have more investment. Democrats, unfortunately, have shown themselves to align with promotion of degeneracy and urban decay. If a democratic mayor who is willing to address these problems to start with emerges, I'd gladly vote for this candidate. I care less about political party labels.
As someone who lived in the reddest state in America where they destroyed their economy with tax cuts to the point that they couldn't afford to keep schools open 5 days a week, and now lives in this extremely blue dot where it's a contest to see who can fellate criminals the best, the problem is SINGLE PARTY RULE. I can't imagine voting for a Republican especially in this post-Jan6 MAGA era, but when nobody has to win the middle because the result is a foregone conclusion, things go off the rails pretty much immediately.
Bingo. Specifically, it's the ideological groupthink that comes along with single-party rule that results in a lot of bad policymaking. We effectively have the progressive/DSA wing of the party here along with the good ol' boy moderate (and often corrupt) wing as the two choices, which is frustrating as hell.
