I'm the PP. I just perused Katie Miller's X posts for the first time. She's even worse than I previously thought! Most of her posts are political and amplify the MAGA party line. The rest are straight up racist or against people with alternative sexualities/gender identities. These two are just petty.

It’s a German story, based primarily on what evolved into western myths, cultural tropes, and traditions. So it deserves some respect, if people want to call it Rapunzel. And set it in a European fairy tale setting. Yes, that is what I believe. If you don’t, whatever. [/quote]

Actually, it’s a German story based on a French story that drew on an Italian story. Was no such thing as “Germany” until recent times.

But yes, it certainly does reflect some of the dysfunctional “cultural traditions” regarding women that were embraced by Europeans, like selling female children and locking them up to “protect” them. And the whole trope about single women being ugly witches.
