Gen Xers may not want AI therapy but the truth younger generations interface with technology more seamlessly. The speed at which AI is advancing now is exponential. We are at the inflection point, now moving past the slow build up. It’s not just AI - it’s also robotics. Not even doctors/surgeons will be spared. Some maybe. All- no.
Well then. We won't need priests, clergy, psychiatrists, psychologists, hostage negotiators, attorneys, mediators, radiologists, what else. I mean this thread has just eliminated almost every job out there including doctors and hvac technicians. Wow. The world without people. Terminator Anyone.
The claims about robotics here are ridiculous. My sibling works with all of the most cutting edge robotics companies. They’ve seen the things no one here has. Their opinion is that the world is decades away from commercially viable humanoid robots that aren’t completely cost prohibitive. A $1M robot plumber makes no sense.
That’s based on humans like your sibling developing the robots. Give AI a few years to improve and they’ll be able to build and program robot plumbers, or anything else they want. It won’t take decades. Although, if they get rid of pesky humans, they’ll only need plumbers to supply their data centers with cooling water.
I’ll take the informed opinion of my HYPMS B.S., M.S., PhD sibling working closely with the top companies in the U.S., China, Japan and Germany over a random doomsday tarot card reader. Plumbers, electricians, carpenters, nurses and other healthcare related fields will be safe through retirement for your current college age children.
