Obviously, none of us know what really happened. I am not leaping to the conclusion Urban doesn't want to see his kids. He gets 59 days--a minor quibble. That sounds like 2 months to me. He's a touring musician. Maybe they just mutually decided that since he doesn't know his touring schedule 4 years out--the younger daughter is 14--the kids would live in the family home with mom during the school and he will take summers off from touring and spend it with his daughters. The fact that the kids are living with mom during the school year doesn't mean he won't see them when he's in town, it just means they won't live with him. I suspect that, given their ages, the kids had some say in the custody schedule. If they are enrolled in a regular school, they probably said something along the lines of "I want to continue going to the same school and living in the same house. I don't want to enroll in some homeschooling program so I can be on the road with dad living out of a tour bus with no kids my own age around." He'll either take the summers off to be with them OR he'll take them with him on tour when that won't interfere with school. As for prepaying support....that may just be because they didn't want to make their finances public. If monthly child support were part of the divorce settlement we'd all know how much it is. This way we don't. It turns out that he signed the agreement August 29 and she signed September 6. I find it amazing that they kept their split under wraps that long. It probably was in the best interest of the kids to do so to give them time to adjust to the idea before it was the headline of The Tennessean.
