I hope everyone is aware that a federal takeover of DC will be a dress rehearsal for the federal takeover of "blue" cities--and possibly more. If it goes well in DC, the sky's the limit.
Take your meds.
Why do you think the above response is unreasonable. Trump has made a number of statements regarding federal intervention in blue cities due to immigration enforcement or "crime." A federal takeover is not a stretch if he is not pleased with local responses to federal intervention attempts. The base would love it if he kicked around a few blue cities and/or states. 1) Trump has repeatedly threatened to take federal control of Washington, D.C., citing concerns about crime and local governance. On August 5, 2025, following an attempted carjacking involving a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer, Trump posted on Truth Social: “If D.C. doesn’t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run, and put criminals on notice that they’re not going to get away with it anymore.” He reiterated this stance to reporters on August 6, 2025, mentioning the possibility of revoking D.C.’s Home Rule or deploying the National Guard. Trump has made similar statements since his 2024 campaign, including at the March 2023 Conservative Political Action Conference and a July 2024 Florida rally, where he criticized D.C.’s crime and appearance, suggesting federal intervention to “clean it up” and make it “safe.” 2) Here is a list of cities Donald Trump has suggested warranted federal intervention due to crime: Washington, D.C. Chicago Los Angeles New York City Detroit San Francisco Philadelphia Oakland Baltimore These cities have been mentioned in Trump’s statements, particularly in 2024 and 2025, as targets for federal action, such as intensified ICE raids, National Guard deployment, or other law enforcement measures, often tied to his claims of high crime rates or Democratic mismanagement. PS. I have a long list of links for his comments that I can post in successive posts if you'd like (they're too long for this one).
