They are based on how much growth a student is predicted to make based on the previous year’s test scores. A kid who scored a 30 last year and scores a 50 this year gets their teacher a bump in points because they were predicted to score another 30 but got a 50. That 20 point growth is seen as the individual teacher’s impact on their learning.
