Live about 75 minutes from Ann Arbor,MI. The daily programs, speakers, events available to enjoy are endless. Over 65 can audit courses at half price of the in-state tuition rate. Summer beaches? Lake Michigan less.than three hours away. Low property taxes. Only problem is a lot of the state once out of a few educated areas is rednecks and MAGA.
75 minutes? Maybe Ann Arbor is nice, but then live in Ann Arbor.
Ann Arbor is nice. Kid just graduated and we have visited/stayed there a bit over the past 4 years. However, it's turning into a deep blue pocket. According to some posts on reddit, they have a homelessness problem and reports of people (women, especially) being harassed on the streets by homeless peeps. I've not come across this personally, but take it for what it's worth. Winters are still cold. Very. Most of us would be dead and gone before global warming catches up and makes it a 'nice' place year-around, unless of course AMOC kicks in and makes Ann Arbor way more colder that what it is now..
