Because it isn’t just a preference for white people in general. By importing white people from S. A. who claim to have been oppressed by blacks, they are trolling the libs. It’s about showing the libs that blacks can be racist too. That’s not what’s actually happening in South Africa where the white minority controls most of the land and generally has a higher standard of living, but that’s the narrative the Trump administration is going with right now. At the same time, they are threatening to revoke the TPS of Ukrainians who are here due to the war. Apparently they’re not the type of whites that Trump likes.[/quote]

If that’s the case, Trump is doing a fantastic job.  I can’t believe the left are allowing themselves to look like racists by making fun of the photos of the refugees, suggesting they deserve persecution because of apartheid, collectively blaming them for their original arrival on the shores of an uninhabited South Africa int the 1650s, and having churches pulling out of refugee programs out of blatant racism and political grandstanding.  It’s a complete gift to the right.[/quote]

I’m the PP whose post you responded to? I literally have no idea what you’re talking about. No one’s talking about the 1600s that I’ve seen anywhere. What I’ve read, including in the Wall Street Journal, is that this is a solution in search of a problem. There is no “genocide” of Afrikaner farmers like Trump mentioned— just a high rate of murders and Home invasions which is common and South Africa and affects more blacks than whites.  The WSJ article on this topic is long and explains the context really well, but it’s behind a pay wall. I will try to summarize it in another post.
