I’m confused. If this is money that belongs to DC for things that DC allocated in the budget, what happens to the money since the house didn’t approve the budget? Is this money that was already in hand — or money that DC anticipated receiving in taxes?

In any case, this is truly horrible news. I’m sorry that DC is being played with like this. I’m guessing that MAGA plan is to

It's only an issue this year because Bowser and council gave a fortune to Leonsis. That's what grew the budget by 1.1 billion. Note that no one talked about clawing back that money, just from schools and police...[/quote]

It wasn't a gift. DC bought Capital One Arena as part of a $515 million deal and then leased it back to Leonsis. Then, DC started renovations on their new arena. [/quote]
