In a heartbeat
I highly doubt it, since there is nothing gained and no development happening in 18-0 and 14-0 games. (And to the “but they didn’t know!” people, if as someone else posted most of those kids play for 2014 or 2015 boys teams, pretty sure they did know what was going to happen)
Development doesn't happen at tournaments, it happens at training and practices. With losses like these, parents in this area should be waking up to what their club soccer and private training fees are paying for at these younger ages.
Not every team in a metro area can have elite talent at every position in u-little soccer. There are always going to be levels to it. Looking at the scores, one of those teams ballers played got scored 0-7 in their consolation game and the coach probably, and rightfully so, pulled back. That bracket just had teams that shouldn’t have been in the top division. The idea that poorly-seeded clubs are at fault for losing to a national “all-star” team of guest players is silly. If anything, ballers underperformed against a local club in the semis.
These are very good points. Bashing the clubs that played against Ballers Elite makes no sense, as any all-star team with each position hand-selected would clearly be expected to win by large margins. I watched a lot of their semifinal while my daughter was warming up for a consolation game, and Ballers Elite got 3 or 4 unnecessary goals in that looked like communication errors by the Bethesda team. That’s part of the game, and those goals count just as much as bangers, but it looked to me like it could have been a 3-0 or 4-0 game and not 7. At the end of the day, I think the entity this reflects poorly on is Jeff Cup. I’m not sure how a previously nonexistent team with no historical data was placed in the top flight. This suggests that Jeff Cup somehow had an understanding of this team and the quality of the players selected, but still thought it was appropriate to put them in a bracket that resulted in blowouts. Yeah u10 parents possibly trophy-chasing or whatever was happening with Ballers Elite forming/traveling for Jeff Cup feels unusual, but it’s not on the kids it is on Jeff Cup to vet and bracket appropriately.
