Be careful what you wish for

Giving middle schoolers the better schrdule means a crap schedule for all 4 years of high school when school actually counts, and a crappier schedule for the 7 to 8 years of elementary school.

Why on earth Reid even brought this up when the best solution is still the current schedule is beyond anyone's wildest guess.

You keep ignoring the fact that many kids take high school level classes in middle school such ans: Algebra 1 HN, Geometry HN, and even Algebra 2 HN. As well as Foreign Language 1 or 2.

No,those middle school grades don't count, even for high school credit.

One, you can expunge them.

Two, tgere is not a college in the country that cares if your kid got a B or an A in 8th grade algebra or 8th grade Spanish.  Heck, the colleges don't even care if your muddle schoolers get a C (which any reasonable parent will expunge and have their kid retake)

Colleges don't even look at your middle achool casses, not even the ones your kid took for high school credit.

What? Have you not had a highschooler?
I have a senior. On their transcript is absolutely their algebra, geometry, and language, classes, and grades that do count towards their high school GPA.
I also have a high school freshman - in ParentVue, under Course History, you can see their cumulative GPA based on those same three classes they took in middle school, along with a transcript.

There is not a college on the planet who is going to look at a B or an A or even a C from 7th or 8th grade during the admissions process.

Most colleges drop the middle school gtades entirely when tgey use their formulas to calculate GPA.

Some colleges look primarily at 10th-12th grade

All colleges discount middle school courses from consideration during the application process.  Middle school grades are completely ignored by colleges.

Many colleges drop the weighted grades to calculate the GPAs.

I have had 2 kids graduate, including one accepted to multiple top ten schools, and one preparing to apply to college.

Middle school grades do not matter, particularly for college admission.

Why do they factor those grades into your GPA then? What are they on the transcript if they don’t count?

Middle school classes are on your transcript credit for state requirements.

Middle school classes are on your transcript for college admissions, but they are isolated in a separate column/boxes away from the high school grades and noted as middle school classes.  The colleges ignore those middle school grades.

Colleges don't care what grades your kid got in 7th or 8th grade.

They don't even acknowlege it.  They don't care one iota what your 12 or 13 year old did in middle school math.

And yes, my kid who was accepted into multiple top 10 school got Bs in 8th grade for his "high school" algebra class.  Schools did not care.  They care about actual high school grades, not high school credit for middle school classes.

You might not be aware of this, but colleges use their own formulas to calculate grades for admissions, which specifically discount things like middle school grades and even weighting in many cases.
